A police officer stormed into a classroom and held the gunman on the ground, while terrified students fled the room and the gunman continued to yell inside. Azhar Uddin, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Law and Order), leapt on the gunman, pushed him to the ground, and snatched the firearm from him. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed that no ordinary person could have carried this out. ‘From where did he learn the term (hostages)? When persons who do these acts are detected, they quickly accuse them of being insane. Who gave him the idea that you could take hostages in this manner?’
