Cyclone Arnab is on course to make landfall on the Andhra Pradesh coast on Wednesday, October 28. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) says it will cross between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam, close to Yanam.

Landfall Details
Arnab is a very severe cyclonic storm over the west-central Bay of Bengal. The IMD expects it to cross the Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coasts by Wednesday forenoon, with winds reaching 140 km/h.
The 11 Districts On Red Alert
The IMD has issued a red alert for October 28 for these districts:
- Eluru
- NTR
- Krishna
- Konaseema
- Kakinada
- East Godavari
- West Godavari
- Guntur
- Alluri Sitharama Raju
- Anakapalli
- Visakhapatnam
Who Faces The Heaviest Rain
Extremely heavy rainfall is forecast in Kakinada, Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari and Eluru. Landfall close to Yanam, which sits among the Godavari delta districts, puts Kakinada and Konaseema closest to the storm’s centre.
Visakhapatnam And Anakapalli
Both districts are on the red alert list, so heavy to extremely heavy rain is possible there too. However, the extremely heavy rainfall warning does not name them. They sit at the northern end of the landfall stretch.
What Happens After Landfall
Model guidance, as reported by Zoom Earth, shows the storm turning sharply north after crossing the coast. It is expected to weaken quickly over land and dissipate within about three days.
What Residents Should Do
People in the red alert districts should follow IMD bulletins and instructions from local authorities. Fishermen should stay away from the sea, and residents of low-lying areas should be ready to move if told to.
The exact point of landfall can still shift. The next IMD updates will show which districts take the worst of it.
