Apple AirPods Pro: What is COnversation Awareness? and how to use it?

Apple AirPods Pro: With their smallest yet most powerful form factor, Apple AirPods Pro has revolutionised the experience of listening to music on the go. The device’s second generation now adds new features like up to twice as much active noise cancellation as its predecessor, an advanced Ttransparencymode, and a more immersive Spatial Audio experience.

All AirPods Pro (2nd generation) devices get an upgrade with iOS 17 and have access to new audio features like Adaptive Audio and Conversation Awareness.

Apple AirPods Pro: Conversation Awareness

When wearing Apple AirPods and listening to music or other audio, such as an audiobook or podcast, Conversation Awareness, an adaptive audio function, makes it simpler to carry on a conversation.

Your compatible AirPods will know that you’re trying to hold a conversation when you begin speaking aloud and recognise your speaking voice. The volume of whatever you’re listening to will then be automatically lowered, background noise will be reduced and the sounds in front of you will be amplified. With headphones on, it may actually be simpler to have a conversation in noisy settings than it would be without them.

During a chat, chat Awareness will always be on. This includes not only your voice but also the sounds made by other people. The audio volume will gradually increase until it reaches the level it was at before it initially identified the discussion after it stops picking up a conversation for a few seconds.

Supported devices

It’s vital to know that Conversation Awareness works with both the original and second-generation AirPods Pro (Type-C). This feature won’t be available to owners of first-generation AirPods Pro.

Advantages of having this feature

Conversation Awareness on AirPods Pro provides a practical approach to staying in touch with the environment while listening to media. The software-based implementation increases the adaptability and capability of the already well-liked wireless earbuds.

To further boost the voices of those in front of you, you can also use the Conversation Boost function. To do this, go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual > Headphone Accommodations and select Transparency Mode. Next, enable Custom Transparency Mode and select Conversation Boost.
