Apple Vision Pro: Mixed Reality headset the world was waiting for, but will the price hamper adoption? here is what the analysts have to say

What do the analysts have to say?

While Apple demonstrated its forward-thinking approach to how augmented reality technology would impact consumers’ lives, Morgan Stanley analysts underlined that the Vision Pro is not yet prepared for widespread use. In addition to other issues, they cited the large external battery pack and the lack of a “killer app” as reasons for caution.

Because of the hefty price tag and the device’s unclear application beyond entertainment in the still-emerging augmented reality (AR) business, analysts said, it may take some time for the product to materialise.

As the Meta Quest 2 retails for $299 and its successor, the Meta Quest 3, was launched last week, some analysts also cautioned that less expensive AR devices from market leader Meta Platforms could be a barrier.

Apple Vision Pro details

A unique aluminium alloy that has been specifically machined to be as light as possible is used to create the Vision Pro. Using a digital crown, users can simply alter their level of immersion. The headband will be available in three sizes to accommodate different head shapes while being soft, comfortable, and easy to adjust. The headband also features two dual-driver audio pods that offer side-by-side spatial sounds. It’s important to know that the Vision Pro features a tethered supplementary battery that is connected to the headset to make it even lighter.

The first 3D camera made by Apple is another feature of the Vision Pro. According to Apple, the camera may be used to capture special moments with enhanced detail and show whether or not someone is filming. If you just want to use the headset as a fancy way to watch TV or movies, there is also a specific mode for watching videos on a virtual screen that is up to 100 feet wide. Apple asserts that the Vision Pro can play more than 100 different games from the Apple Arcade library.

Apple states that the dual 4K micro-OLED panels in the Vision Pro have a combined pixel count of 23 million. These screens are paired with a custom three-element lens for optics. LiDAR and traditional camera sensors are present on the outside of the gadget, and IR cameras and LED lights are present within. Together, the R1 and M2 processors from Apple deliver responsive, “lag-free” independent performance, and the company’s visionOS runs the entire headgear.
