Artificial Intelligence: Wipro Chief Strategist and Technology Officer Hari Shetty is optimistic that artificial intelligence (AI) would continue to rule the conversation tables centred around technology and innovation for the next two decades.
DON'T MISS
Shetty remarked it is however unlikely that the IT services businesses of India would get dented by artificial intelligence.
It was commented by Shetty that technology would provide more work to IT companies and the myths about AI killing jobs are without any substantial basis.
Job Loss Concerns Over Artificial Intelligence
In recent weeks, Indian IT stocks have taken a massive hit as concerns have grown around automation led by AI. Many fear that companies would not require engineers and others if AI could move data, write code and connect systems faster and better than human beings.
The Wipro Chief Strategist and Technology Officer also commented that AI represents a larger opportunity for all of us when you carefully explore the complete gamut of things that are possible. Shetty remarked that artificial intelligence is likely to stimulate the creation of more jobs than ever. The Wipro executive added that a significant majority of people are just looking at the surface-level use of artificial intelligence.
Referring to World Economic Forum estimates, Shetty remarked AI may remove 92 million roles while adding approximately 17 million new jobs worldwide. Shetty advocated that more jobs would happen in the segments of data curation, model training and responsible AI practices.
Shetty went on to remark that young engineers are still being hired by Wipro who are comfortable working with AI tools.
Fears Extended
In another development, Vishal Sikka, Founder and CEO of Vianai and former CEO of Infosys, expresses fears that AI could possibly change how specific enterprise projects would get delivered going forward.
Sikka remarked that system integration, code migration and connecting different apps would get redefined like never before.
