Elon Musk: Images and postings from before December 2014 have been removed from X, the social media network that was formerly known as Twitter. Many users have been impacted by the deletion because they can no longer access the images, videos, and other materials they originally submitted on the platform.
Technical issues that affected tweets posted before December 2014 are thought to be to blame for this incident.
Elon Musk’s X faces major glitch
The Verge reported that the issue appears to only be impacting posts made before December 2014 that included associated images and hyperlinks that had been changed using the company’s integrated URL shortener.
One of the most well-known tweets from 2014 Oscars host Ellen DeGeneres was also impacted by the X issue. The famous selfie, which was taken during the Oscars, featured stars including Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lawrence, and Bradley Cooper. The jokester captioned the 2014 selfies, “If only Bradley’s arm was longer. Best picture ever.
The reason behind the glitch
The CEO of X Corp., Linda Yaccarino, and the company’s owner, Elon Musk, have not yet provided an official response to the reports of a bug affecting earlier tweets. However, The Verge report notes that since only tweets sent after December 2014 are impacted, it may be related to changes made by the social media platform in 2016, when it added ‘enhanced URL enrichment’ to show previews for linked websites and native attachments that were longer than the company’s 140 character limit.
