Google fires star performer of the month, latter pens an emotional social media post saying “Why Me?”

Google Layoff

Google recently laid off thousands of its employees worldwide, including in India. One of the affected individuals, Harsh Vijayvargiya from Hyderabad, was left shocked after being let go without any proper reason. He expressed his emotions in a post on LinkedIn, stating that he was one of the 12,000 workers who were terminated by the tech giant.

Harsh was star performer of the month

The employee claimed that despite being recognized as a star performer of the month badge, Google still terminated his employment, leaving him puzzled and seeking answers. “Even though I was the star performer for the month, still why me? And there was no answer at all,” he shared in a post on LinkedIn.

Google has clarified that a recent round of layoffs involving thousands of staff members, some of whom were based in India, was driven by employee performance among other things. Google said in a blog post that it carefully examined product categories and functionalities to make sure they were in line with the business’s top goals. Despite this, Google’s CEO expressed regret for the choice and pledged to give impacted staff severance money.

In his social media post, Harsh said, “I used to have 5-day work from office and was habituated to enroute office daily is now at home. I have a kid and a supportive wife who are always there for me, though I was not available for them because of working hours. This took place on Saturday and it took me two days to jot down strength and get back to things and now fight back for survival.”
