Google Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 7 do not support the latest 5G standards, Here is why

Google Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 7: Although the Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are capable of using 5G, this does not imply that they support the most recent 5G standard that the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has released. For those who don’t know, the 3GPP is a collection of organisations created to provide the standards for mobile telecommunication.

Google Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 7 5G standards

A post claims that either only the upcoming Pixel 8 series, which is anticipated to debut in the fourth quarter of 2023 with the same Exynos 5300 5G modem and the Tensor G3 5G processor, will support Release 16 or that the Google Pixel 7 lineup will get support for Release 16 later this year.

The older 3GPP Release 15, the first 5G standard, was launched in 2018 and is used by the Pixel 7 range of smartphones. Version 16 is expected to debut in 2020, Release 17 is to be widely adopted in 2022, and Release 18 is scheduled to be delivered in 2024. Google supplies its most recent flagship handsets with the Tensor SoC and the Exynos 5300 5G modem, which use older 5G standards despite the existence of newer versions.
