As Google gears up to launch the Pixel 9a on March 19, last year’s flagship, Pixel 8, has received a massive price cut in India. Currently, the Pixel 8 (8GB RAM + 128GB storage) is listed on Flipkart at a discount of ₹30,000, bringing its price below ₹50,000. Flipkart is offering a 34% discount on the model, and buyers using an HDFC credit card on EMI transactions can avail of an additional ₹3,000 off, making the effective price ₹46,999.
Price Drop on Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a
The 256GB variant of Pixel 8 is now available at ₹52,999, with the same ₹3,000 EMI discount, reducing the effective price to ₹49,999. This means that both storage variants of the Pixel 8 can now be purchased for under ₹50,000.
Additionally, the Pixel 8a, which was originally priced at ₹52,999, has seen a price drop to ₹37,999 on Flipkart. Customers using a Flipkart Axis credit card can also get an extra ₹1,900 cashback, making it an even more attractive deal.
Pixel 9a Expected Pricing and Specifications
The Google Pixel 9a is expected to be priced at $499 (~₹43,100) for the 128GB model and $599 (~₹51,800) for the 256GB variant in the US. If the price remains similar in India, the discounted Pixel 8 and 8a could offer better value unless the Pixel 9a brings major upgrades.
Leaked specifications of the Pixel 9a suggest a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and a design resembling the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro. It is expected to run on Google’s Tensor G4 chipset, feature 8GB LPDDR5X RAM, and offer storage up to 256GB. Security features may include the Titan M2 chip.
With these discounts, buyers may find the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a to be more cost-effective alternatives to the upcoming Pixel 9a.
