Delhi News Horror: Another young life lost in Delhi. Another wave of anger over a capital that keeps failing to protect its women and girls. A 16-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered in outer Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar area, police said. Her body was found in a field near Kushak Road on September 13, in a state that had decomposed significantly by the time it was discovered.

According to investigators, the girl had gone to meet a 17-year-old boy she knew on a Friday night. Police allege he assaulted her, and that after she threatened to report him, he called three friends, who allegedly joined in. At least three of the accused have reportedly confessed to their involvement.
The Investigation
Delhi Police reviewed footage from more than 50 CCTV cameras and traced a vehicle allegedly connected to the crime to Khadda Colony in the Swaroop Nagar area. A 19-year-old man has been arrested, and three minors, aged 16 and 17, have been apprehended. Police have registered a case under the POCSO Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
A Girl Who Had Already Left Home
Police said the victim was a school dropout who had been living separately from her family in Swaroop Nagar for several years, reportedly looking for work to support her parents. Her family had not filed a missing persons report, telling police she would sometimes leave home and return after a few days.
