Prepare Data

  • With ChatGPT 4 you can directly upload your data file and explain your trading strategy for backtesting. 
  • Prompts: After uploading your trading data file. You can use a prompt like “ Backtest the following trading strategy on this data and provide detailed instructions. 
GPT 3.5 
  • As this is a less intelligent version of ChatGPT. It needs manual data manipulation such as converting to text format. 
  • Explain your strategy in detail and ask ChatGPT to simulate trades keeping the provided data as a base. 

Analyze the Results

  • ChatGPT will show you the results after backtesting your trading strategy such as returns, drawdowns, win rate and others. 
  • Do not forget to evaluate the results given by ChatGPT, considering data biases and potential overfitting. 
  • Compare the performance benchmarks index or other strategies.
