ISRO’s ‘space tourism module’ to be functional by 2030, Here’s Detail

Knowing about space has always been thrilling. And if you get a chance to go and travel in space then what to say. Today many countries of the world are working fast in the direction of space tourism. Countries like America, China and Japan are moving in this direction. Now India’s name has been added to the list of these countries. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) chief S. Somnath said that India is moving fast on its own space tourism module.

Somnath said, ‘Space travel can be done by the year 2030, for which Rs 6 crore will have to be spent per person. People going on this journey will also be able to call themselves astronauts. However, ISRO chief Somnath did not clarify whether space tourism would be sub-orbital (up to 100 km height, to the edge of space) or orbital (400 km). Usually on such trips, tourists spend about 15 minutes at the edge of space. They also experience a low-gravity environment for a few minutes before descending.

ISRO is working fast

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, Atomic Energy and Space DrJitendra Singh said in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha in February that ISRO has started conducting a feasibility study for India’s sub-orbital space tourism. He said that ISRO is engaged in the development of various technologies in India’s first human space flight program through Gaganyaan.

Space tourism is not new

Aerospace engineer Dennis Tito became the first space tourist to pay for space tourism in 2001. He paid $20 million to Russia to fly on the Soyuz spacecraft and spend a week on the International Space Station (ISS). Since then, several companies including Blue Origin, Virgin Galactic and SpaceX have begun offering excursions into space with tickets on sub-orbital space flights starting around $450,000.
