Tata Avinya: Futuristic green vehicle with a range of 500 kms, plush interiors that may change the market dynamics, all you must know

Tata Avinya: Tata Motors has unvieled the Tata Avinya as a step toward redefining its place in the EV market. Yes, it’s still a concept, like the Curvv SUV that was just shown off, but the Avinya has been shown off to show the brand’s new design study. It gets its name from the word “Avinya,” which means “innovation” in Sanskrit. Tata Motors says that the Avinya is a new and modern car that combines ideas from a hatchback, an SUV, and an MPV.

Tata Motors hopes to get into a new body style with the Avinya. Starting with the front, the Avinya Concept’s bumper is a big rectangle. It also has two U-shaped louvres and a mesh pattern. But what stands out is that there is no logo of the brand on the hood. Tata Motors went one step further and gave the Avinya LED DRLs that run across the width of the two-toned bonnet and join in the middle to form a “T.”

Have a look on it’s design from interior to exterior

The Avinya has shorter overhangs on the sides, and the swirl-shaped 22-inch wheels are pushed to the edges. The black roof is low and flat, and it flows down to the C-pillar. The sharp L-shaped black inserts on the doors give the body, which is mostly flat and smooth look. The beautiful butterfly doors that open in the middle are a first for any Tata Concept car.

At the back, the design details keep getting more and more interesting. The one-piece thin tail light stripe that is attached to the boot lid looks striking. Both sides of the lamp are lifted off the rear fenders instead of being flush with them. Further down, the back bumper looks like the front bumper, and below the boot line, you can see the “Avinya” badge.

The Tata Avinya’s cabin is different from the brand’s usual style and focuses on minimalism. The Avinya’s cabin is all done in light beige and tan colors. There are no standard screens for the multimedia system or even a driver’s display. A small display screen and touch-based controls are built into a square steering wheel with rounded corners.

Concept car also had a rotating driver’s seat

The four individual air vents that have been put on the door pads are another smart addition to the cabin. The speakers have been moved from the doors to under the headrests, and there is an air diffuser in the front centre console. The concept car also had a rotating driver’s seat, but it’s still not clear if it will be in the final version.

The back row has seats that look like seating, and the full-size see-through roof makes the car feel more open and spacious. The traditional ORVMs have been replaced with ones that use cameras and show the view on screens next to the A-pillar. The cabin of the Avinya will also be made of recycled and environmentally friendly materials. For example, the surface of the floor is made of recycled plastic and mineral wastes like oyster shells.

What are the options for the engines?

The Tata Curvv will be built on the Gen 2 architecture, but the Avinya will be built on the Gen 3 EV platform, which is more flexible. In the coming years, more Tata EVs in different segments and body styles will use the new Gen 3 architecture.

The best thing about the new platform is that it can fit bigger battery packs, which can give electric cars a range of more than 500km. The battery packs will also be able to charge extremely quickly. As for safety, the Avinya will have connected car tech, advanced driver assistance systems, and a stronger structure.

When do you think it will go into production?

Tata Motors says that it plans to start making the Avinya sometime in 2025. The Indian carmaker has also confirmed that Avinya will be a fully electric car that will be over 4.3 metres long and have a wheelbase of 1.3 metres. It will come out after the 2024 launch of the Curvv SUV, which was just showcased this year.
