Twitter witnesses 30% drop in downloads in 60 days post rebranding, Details

Twitter, formerly the global hub for news and personal social updates, has seen a dramatic dip in download numbers since its controversial rebranding as "X" by Elon Musk.

Twitter: Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter has resulted in a slew of changes, but his decision to rename the platform “X” may be the final nail in the coffin of the once-loved internet social media platform.

Twitter witnessed a 30% drop in downloads

According to Apptopia, the social media giant’s downloads fell by about 30% within two months of the rebranding, hitting the lowest point in more than a decade.

Since 2011, Twitter has added 15 to 30 million new users per month. However, according to the latest data, “X” only attracted 10 million users between August and September of this year. This significant dip contrasts with the platform’s performance last year when it saw only an 18% decrease in downloads immediately prior to Musk’s acquisition.

twitter.com, also saw a drop in traffic, with global visits falling by 10% in August compared to the previous year.

Musk’s Vision

These results are a setback for Musk, who has previously stated his desire to reach 1 billion monthly users by 2024. right after musk’s takeover, the app saw a huge surge in downloads but the graph has been coming down since.
