Vivo: According to information provided to Parliament on Friday, Chinese smartphone manufacturers Oppo Mobile, Vivo India, and Xiaomi Technology have been discovered to have cheated the government of India out of taxes totalling Rs 9,000 crore.

According to information presented in the Rajya Sabha by the Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, tax evasion totalling almost 9,000 crore rupees—including customs duty and GST—was discovered between 2018–19 and 2022–23.

At this time, the companies paid back to the government Rs. 1,629.87 crore.

Data indicates that Oppo Mobile India was discovered to be dodging taxes of Rs. 5,086 crore, of which Rs. 4,403 crore was due to customs duties and Rs. 683 crore was GST.

In his written response, Chandrasekhar claimed that Vivo had avoided paying taxes of Rs. 2,923.25 crore, including Rs. 2,875 crore in customs duties and Rs. 48.25 crore in GST.

In the instance of Xiaomi Technology India, there was discovered to be tax fraud totalling Rs. 851.14 crore, which included Rs. 682.51 crore in customs duty and Rs. 168.63 crore in GST.
