Emmett Shear: Emmett Shear, a co-founder and former CEO of Twitch, has been appointed by the OpenAI board to serve as the company’s new acting CEO. The action was taken in response to demands for Sam Altman’s return as the company’s CEO from investors including Microsoft, Thrive Capital, and Global Management.
Who is Emmett Shear?
Shear, a Yale alum, gained popularity in 2011 when he co-founded the live-streaming platform Twitch. After the birth of his child earlier this year, he left the platform owned by Amazon.com Inc.
He was connected to Y Combinator, a business that helps startups launch and get capital, before joining Twitch. Reddit, Dropbox, and Airbnb are just a few of the businesses it helped start.
