WhatsApp: WhatsApp periodically adds new functionality to its iOS and Android apps. However, it also discontinues support for many of these devices after a certain amount of time. WhatsApp has stated that it will discontinue supporting devices with Android OS versions lower than 5.0.
WhatsApp to stop working on THESE smartphones
WhatsApp will only function on phones running Android 5.0 or later as of October 24, though. Apart from that, if you use an iPhone, the iOS version on your device must be 12 or higher.
The majority of the phones on the list are older models that are no longer widely used. You might need to consider getting a new phone if you still own one of these models.
Popular devices that will stop supporting WhatsApp
Acer Iconia Tab A5003, Samsung Galaxy S, HTC Desire HD, LG Optimus 2X, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc3, Nexus 7 (upgradable to Android 4.2), Samsung Galaxy Note 2, HTC One, Sony Xperia Z, Motorola Droid Razr, LG Optimus G Pro, Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, HTC Sensation, and Motorola Xoom.
What did the company say?
According to WhatsApp’s official note,To choose what to stop supporting, every year we, like other technology companies, look at which devices and software are the oldest and have the fewest number of people still using them. These devices also might not have the latest security updates or might lack the functionality required to run WhatsApp.”
