Bobby Gautam, a resident of the locality of Sardhana, Takiyakait, was a salesman at a local clothing showroom. He had a minor conflict with a colleague earlier in the day, but it was diffused peacefully, and the two parties settled. Nevertheless, the same group approached Bobby later in the evening during the Ganesh immersion procession. A brawl erupted, and in the process, an unknown person stabbed Bobby Gautam, critically wounding him.

Bobby was rushed to a private hospital in Meerut. Since his injuries were critical, he was taken to a private hospital in Kankarkhera. Although under medical care, Bobby Gautam died of his injuries, stunning his family and local community.
