Pappu Yadav, the Member of Parliament from Purnia, called for a Bihar Bandh today in protest of alleged irregularities in the BPSC exam. The strike, however, quickly spiraled into violence, causing disruptions across the state. In a shocking turn of events, a viral video surfaced showing Pappu Yadav's supporters attacking a man who was simply on his way to work. The situation has sparked outrage, with many criticising the attackers’ actions.
A viral video posted by FirstBiharJharkhand on X (formerly Twitter) captures the disturbing moment when a crowd surrounds a man riding his bike. Despite the severe cold, the crowd brutally beats him while he is on his way to the office. This incident took place in Katihar and has added fuel to the already heated situation caused by the ongoing Bihar Bandh.

The shocking attack led to a flood of reactions on social media. Users voiced their anger over the violence, calling it an example of 'hooliganism' under the guise of student protests. One commenter described the act as "absolutely wrong," while another criticised the attackers as a "Gunda party" taking advantage of students' grievances. Many users also expressed confusion, questioning why the man was heading to the office on a Sunday.
Apart from the viral video, multiple reports of vandalism and arson have emerged, further intensifying the situation. In several areas, protesters have attacked vehicles and damaged property. Some truck windows were smashed, and shopkeepers were threatened with forced closures. The protest, initially sparked by students protesting BPSC exam irregularities, has gained attention from several prominent political leaders in Bihar, leading to further unrest and violence across the state.
