Maddock Films is cooking up another sequel, and it’s none other than Luka Chuppi that’s getting a franchise makeover. Dinesh Vijan, who’s already set Cocktail 2 in motion, has now greenlit Luka Chuppi 2 with a brand-new lead pair and a whole new vibe. Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon are stepping away from the sequel. Instead, Varun Dhawan and Munjya fame Sharvari will headline this next chapter.
As per a Peeping Moon report, both actors have already agreed to do the film and will officially sign on once the script gets locked.
Varun Dhawan & Sharvari’s Luka Chuppi 2 With Supernatural Twist
A big twist is that Luka Chuppi 2 isn’t just a rom-com anymore, as it will also step into the supernatural zone. While the original followed a couple pretending to be married while secretly in a live-in setup, the sequel mixes humour with paranormal chaos. Expect quirky laughs and ghostly drama.
Director Laxman Utekar, who helmed the 2019 hit, won’t return to direct this one. Instead, one of his trusted collaborators will take over directing duties, with Utekar staying on as co-producer. The new team wants to keep the comedy alive but with a fresh storyline and tone.
Interestingly, both Varun and Sharvari already belong to Maddock’s horror-comedy universe. Varun played the werewolf in Bhediya, while Sharvari grabbed headlines with her performance in Munjya. But this marks their first on-screen collaboration.
According to sources, the makers were looking for a fresh pairing with strong screen chemistry, and Varun-Sharvari fit the bill.
The film is expected to start rolling in the first half of 2026. However, schedules are still being worked out since both stars are juggling multiple projects.
Varun & Sharvari’s Work Front
Varun has just wrapped up Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, directed by his father, David Dhawan. He’s soon heading to shoot Border 2 alongside Sunny Deol. He was initially supposed to shoot No Entry 2 and Bhediya 2 next, but both have faced delays. No Entry 2 has been pushed due to Diljit Dosanjh’s exit, and Bhediya 2 is still in development.
Meanwhile, Varun has two releases this year. Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, co-starring Janhvi Kapoor, hits cinemas on September 12. David Dhawan’s untitled film with Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde is eyeing a late-2025 release. Fans will also catch Varun in a Bhediya cameo in Thama, alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, releasing this Diwali.
Sharvari is gonna star in YRF’s first female-led spy thriller with Alia Bhatt, which arrives on Christmas 2025. She’s also part of Imtiaz Ali’s period romance with Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, and Naseeruddin Shah. Talks are underway for Race 4 and Sooraj Barjatya’s next family film, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana as a modern-day Prem.
