Diljit Dosanjh is caught in the middle of a controversy over his film Sardaar Ji 3, which features Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Due to backlash, the movie will not release in India. Now, with film bodies raising concerns and writing to the makers of Border 2, Diljit’s role in the patriotic film is under threat. Buzz suggests that Bad Newz actor Ammy Virk may replace him.

According to a TOI report, the Border 2 team is considering replacing Diljit. A source revealed, “Diljit has only filmed 3-4 scenes so far. The makers are considering replacing him, as it’s still early enough to reshoot those portions without much hassle. The team is handling the situation directly, and Ammy Virk’s name has come up during internal discussions.”

FWICE's Letter To Border 2 Makers Raises Concerns Over Casting Of Diljit Dosanjh

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) wrote to Border 2 lead Sunny Deol urging him to reconsider working with Diljit. They praised Deol’s legacy in patriotic films and warned that working alongside Dosanjh, who cast a Pakistani actor post the Pahalgam attack, sends a “conflicting and distressing message.”

The letter called Diljit’s choice “a shocking disregard for national sentiment,” especially during a time of national mourning. FWICE also pointed to government guidelines against collaborating with Pakistani artists. The letter stated, “Your decision to disassociate from this collaboration will reaffirm your enduring image as a true patriot.”

Diljit Responds To Sardaar Ji 3 Backlash

In a recent interview with BBC Asian Network, Diljit addressed the issue. He said the film was completed before political tensions arose. The singer-actor shared, “Jab yeh film bani thi tab situation sab theek tha. We shot this in Feb and then everything was fine.”

Diljit added that producers decided to release the film overseas to avoid further controversy. “Now the situation is not in our hands. So if the producers want to release it abroad, I support them.” He also acknowledged that the financial risk is involved.

Border 2 is currently being shot in Pune. While some reports suggest that Diljit might be dropped, another source told Hindustan Times that replacing him would be difficult as half the film is already complete. So far, there’s been no official word from the film’s producer Nidhi Dutta or either actor.
