Mrunal Thakur is once again in the social media spotlight, and this time it’s not for her films. The actress recently faced backlash when an old comment about Bipasha Basu went viral. Now, another clip from a past interview is circulating online, where her words have sparked speculation that she was demeaning Anushka Sharma.

Mrunal Thakur Talks About Rejecting A Superhit Film

In the video, Mrunal recalls turning down films she wasn’t ready for at the time. She said, “controversies hojayegi” before revealing that one of the projects later became a superhit and boosted the leading actress’s career. She added, “But then I realised if I had done that film at that point in time, I would have lost myself.”

Fans believe she was referring to the Salman Khan-starrer Sultan, a film originally offered to her. Speaking further, she said, “She is not working at the moment, but I am, which is itself a victory because I don’t want instant gratification, instant recognition, instant fame because anything that comes instantly goes away instantly.” This statement led viewers to speculate that she was indirectly shading Anushka Sharma.

Netizens React To The Alleged Shade

The video has stirred heated discussions on social media. One Reddit user asked, “Which film is Mrunal Thakur talking about?”

Check out some online user reactions below:

“Money can’t buy class. So mean and so bitter. Every interview will have at least one such bitter statement made by her.”

“That apology for Bipasha does not even feel real anymore. She’s been throwing shade on others too.”

“Sultan for sure… she needs to understand Anushka was already established before Sultan.”

“Such a mean girl energy… knew she is still the same person who was 7-8 years ago.”

While some criticised her tone, others argued that the comments misrepresented Anushka’s career choices, pointing out that she stepped back from films voluntarily to focus on her personal life.

Mrunal Thakur’s Upcoming Projects

On the work front, Mrunal was last seen in Son of Sardaar 2 alongside Ajay Devgn, which failed at the box office. She now has multiple projects lined up, including Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit, Pooja Meri Jaan, and Varun Dhawan’s Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.
