A disturbing old news video about an incident from Madhya Pradesh’s Tikamgarh district is going viral. It reveals that two brothers fought over their father’s last rites. One of them even demanded that the body be cut in half so each could perform separate funerals.

The incident reportedly took place in February 2025 after 85-year-old Dhyani Singh Ghosh died following a prolonged illness. He lived with his younger son, Damodar, who had cared for him during his final days.

Soon after his death, Ghosh’s elder son Kishan arrived. He insisted on performing the last rites, claiming it was his right as the eldest son. Damodar disagreed. He said he had looked after their father alone, while Kishan and his family had kept their distance.

The argument quickly escalated. Shockingly, Kishan suggested, in front of villagers and relatives, that they should cut their father’s body in two and hold separate rites. The remark left everyone stunned.

Concerned villagers called the police. Officers from the Jatara police station rushed to the spot. They calmed the scene and spoke to both brothers and other family members.

Police decided that Damodar should perform the last rites since he had taken care of their father. Kishan was asked to cooperate. As per police officials, Damodar was allowed to go ahead with the funeral after understanding the situation, and Kishan was advised to support his brother.

The fight ended, but the ground reporting video of the incident is viral now.

After watching the video, the internet reacted with disbelief and anger. One X user wrote, “Very unfortunate.” Another posted, “Samaj.... marriage is necessary, child is necessary... Yes child is necessary so that at the end they will cut me into pieces…”
