DD is set to telecast Virtual Ram Leela

It will be on air from 7 pm to 10 pm daily for the nine days of Navratri leading up to Dussehra.

National broadcaster Doordarshan is set to telecast live from Ayodhya ‘Ram Leela’, the dramatic enactment of the life of Lord Rama according to the Ramayana.

It will be on air from 7 pm to 10 pm daily for the nine days of Navratri leading up to Dussehra.

‘Ram Leela’ live telecast will be on several government social media channels as well as on Youtube and will be available in various languages across the country.

Prasar Bharati officials told TOI the live telecast of Ramlila was in continuation of the public broadcaster’s coverage of cultural events, including the Makara Vilakku festivities at Sabarimala temple in Kerala, among others.

Officials said over two hours of live coverage will be provided every day and will be repeated on DD Bharati and 
DD National during the day.

The ‘Ayodhya ki Ramleela’, in which BJP MPs Manoj Tiwari and Ravi Kishan are to participate, will be available virtually in 14 regional languages, including Urdu and Bhojpuri, its organisers said.

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, who will be portraying the role of Angad – a member of the monkey army.

Besides Tiwari and Kishan, famous film and television actors including Vindu Dara Singh (Hanuman), Ritu Shivpuri (Kaikeyi), Asrani (Narad) Shahbaz Khan (Ravana), Rakesh Bedi (Vibhishan), Rakesh Puri (Nishadraj), Raza Murad (Ahiravana) and Avatar Gill (Janak) will be participating. Kishan will reprise the role of Bharat, said the organisers of Ayodhya Ki Ramleela’.
