The Greater Noida Authority recently carried out a sealing drive in Ajnara Homes residential society in Greater Noida West in an unprecedented move that has shaken both residents and traders. The law hit several shops and commercial complexes where zoning and construction norms were not being followed.
Such action is another step by the Greater Noida Authority to curb unauthorised commercial arrangements in residential areas. According to officials, several shops in Ajnara Homes were built or were being run without the required approvals, which led to direct sealing.
Recently, the Greater Noida Authority took serious action against some shops present in a residential society called Ajnara Homes in Greater Noida West by sealing these shops as they were found to be violating land-use rules. It was evident that commercial establishments were operating in a completely residential area, thus violating the building rules of the authority as well as the urban planning strategy.
In most cases, shopkeepers had erected permanent commercial buildings without obtaining the necessary approvals, and this has led to legal issues as well as business risks for people. This action is a component of a larger solution designed to prevent unregulated business development in residential areas and promote compliance with legal processes.
Reactions from people in the society during the sealing drive were varied. A large group of people praised the initiative, as they believed that the increased security risk, the increasing number of people reaching the destination on foot and the disturbance caused by the constant noise is a burning social issue. On the other hand, a significant portion of the local traders displayed clear discontent. These owners considered their businesses as their main source of income and insisted that they were not aware of their legal status or were misinformed about the required authorizations.
The Greater Noida Authority also hinted at taking similar action in due course against other societies. Officials warn residents and shopkeepers to check the property documents and ensure it is legal, or face a fine or eviction.
