Pappu Yadav Video: The government is set to introduce two bills related to the 'One Nation, One Election' in the Lok Sabha on Monday. While the ruling party has expressed strong support for the proposal, opposition voices like Purnia MP Pappu Yadav have raised significant concerns. Pappu Yadav dismissed the initiative, labeling it as lacking real value and emphasising the need to address more pressing issues.

Rising Election Costs Misusing Taxpayer Money, Says Pappu Yadav

In a video uploaded on X by IANS, Pappu Yadav passionately criticized the exorbitant costs of elections, citing that ₹300–400 crore is spent on each one. He argued that this money, which comes from taxpayers, is being misused for election campaigns, advertisements, and freebies. Yadav stated, “Marketing and advertisements are funded by tax money, which is being wasted.” He suggested that these funds could be redirected to improve health, education, and justice systems instead of being spent on election gimmicks.

Focus on Basic Issues Before 'One Nation, One Election'

Pappu Yadav emphasised that before implementing “One Nation, One Election,” the government should address fundamental problems like unemployment and ensure basic rights for citizens. He proposed an alternative initiative, “One Nation, One Justice,” to prioritise judicial reforms over election synchronisation.

Concerns Over EVMs and Accountability

The Purnia MP pointed out the need to address problems with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), highlighting their transparency and reliability as crucial to ensuring fair elections. He also stressed the importance of accountability in governance, stating, “When you point one finger at others, three fingers point back at you.”

Misuse of ED and its Impact on Families

Pappu Yadav criticised the misuse of central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED), alleging that their actions have caused immense suffering for many families. He claimed that the government’s approach has led to extreme situations, including suicides, and called for a shift in focus to real issues impacting people’s lives.

A Call for Real Solutions

In his remarks, Pappu Yadav urged the government to focus on solving everyday problems faced by citizens. He argued that addressing unemployment, improving public services, and ensuring justice should take precedence over proposals like “One Nation, One Election.”
