Rahul Gandhi’s frontal attack on BJP; lashes out at anti-encroachment drive calls it “Bhajpa Ka Bulldozer”

Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, has criticised the J&K government’s anti-encroachment drive and claimed that residents in the region are facing “Bhajpa ka bulldozer.” Rahul Gandhi further said that the government was snatching the land that people had worked so hard to build their homes on.

He Tweeted on Sunday,

“Jammu and Kashmir needs employment, better business and love, but what did they get? Bulldozer of BJP! The land which the people there irrigated with hard work for many decades, is being snatched from them.Peace will be protected by uniting, not by dividing people,”

J & K Administration sets January 31 as deadline to clear all encroachments

The J-K administration began the eviction effort in January to remove encroachers from government property, promising that its focus would be powerful individuals and that others who had constructed homes on small plots wouldn’t be impacted. The administration has given itself till January 31 to remove all encroachments.

The Supreme Court had on February 1 denied appeals of a UT administration circular, clearing the path for the eviction campaign.

Protests from Opposition Parties

Members affiliated to various political parties in the state which includes Congress, People’s Democratic Part, Apni Party and Democratic Azad Party have protested against anti-enchroachment drive. Residents have taken to protest against anti-encroachment drive in the region.

As of now, the government has recovered more than 10 lakh kanals (one kanal equals 605 square yards) of land throughout Jammu and Kashmir. On January 7, Commissioner Secretary of the Revenue Department Vijay Kumar Bidhuri gave all deputy commissioners the order to ensure that all encroachments from state land were completely removed.

Amid protests, Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha assured that common people would’nt be affected by he drive,

Sinha said, “Only those people who have grabbed land illegally are facing eviction. I have personally directed the deputy commissioners and senior superintendents of police to closely monitor (the drive) and ensure no innocent person is affected in any manner,”
