BJP criticises Jaya Bachchan

In the clip, the  Samajwadi Party can be seen standing up, walking towards the Well of the House and pointing a finger at Jagdeep Dhankar who had asked all the members to be seated. This happened amid uproarious Budget sessions in Parliament over the Adani-Hindenburg issue.

The hashtag #JayaBachchan began trending on Twitter in non time shortly after the video went viral across social media platforms. Her behaviour has attracted negative limelight, with BJP’s Ajay Sehrawat writing “Jaya Bachchan’s behaviour in the Rajya Sabha is condemnable.”

Kanchan Gupta, information and broadcasting ministry advisor, wrote, “Reminded of the occasion when Jaya Bachchan commented harshly on Nehru clan. UPA was in power. Amitabh Bachchan rushed to apologise and issued a hand-wringing statement that ended with “वो राजा हैं, हम रंक हैं।” (They are rulers, we are commoners.)”

BJP spokesperson Anuja Kapur took to Twitter to share the clip and wrote, “Like party, like values… Jaya Bachchan ji, at least you should have kept the dignity of the post.”

What Jaya Bachchan said

During the Adani-Hindenburg uproar, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Rajani Patil was suspended for the rest of the ongoing Budget Session for violating the directions of the chairman.

Speaking about it, Jaya Bachchan said, ”I think it was done in a very humiliating manner. Shouldn’t have happened. If they feel something wrong was done, they should’ve sent it to Committee. Don’t know if they sent it.She wasn’t given a chance to clarify,” Jaya Bachchan said.
