Viral Video: Man Slaps Woman At The Airport For Not Giving Up Seat, Violence Breaks, Passengers Horrified

Viral video: On July 27, 2025, the Colombian human rights lawyer Claudia Segura gets physically assaulted in Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport. A fellow passenger, Héctor Santacruz, slaps her on the face for a minor dispute regarding the seat. 

The intensity of his slap leaves the fellow passengers in shock. They come up on her defence while the man’s wife, present there, tries to protect him. The shocking act of offence caught on camera is getting viral on the internet.   

Dispute Over Seat Escalates to Violence

The clip of this violent act, as captured by a fellow passenger along with the reaction video of the man’s wife, is shared by the Colombia Oscura page on X. This then immediately catches the notice of the global audience and media. NDTV World also covers this news, providing detailed information about the incident.

The initial report says that Segura sat on the empty seat beside the man’s wife in the waiting area of the airport. There was no objection when she sat on that seat. But soon the husband came demanding that she must empty the seat. She refuses to leave the seat, and this leads them to get involved in a verbal duel. 

The man, Héctor Santacruz, then threatens her, saying, “Get up or I'll get you up”. Then suddenly he hits her hard when she turns on her mobile. He blows on her face, the impact made her lie on the floor, while fellow passengers immediately came to her rescue. 

The sudden attack by the man leaves the passengers, even the man's wife, in utter shock. They immediately intervene to keep the man away from the lady. The man's wife also woke up to rescue him, although she knows her husband is guilty of this.

Man’s Wife Responds in Video Statement

The victim of the assault, Claudia Segura, has filed a complaint, stating, “I am affected and very afraid.” The accused man's wife also issued an apology. She shared a video on Instagram—later deleted—saying, “The person shown physically assaulting a woman is my husband.” 

Visibly shaken, she added, “You don't know how much it hurts me to say this out loud. It really hurts me as a woman, as a mother,” expressing her own sense of shame and trauma after the incident.

Whether legal action will be taken against the man remains unclear. However, the shocking airport altercation has sparked public outrage and raised a pressing question: What drives an educated, seemingly civilised man to such violent behaviour in a public space?
