Viral Video: Anand Mahindra, the well-known Indian billionaire businessman and chairman of the Mahindra Group, recently published a video of a polar bear on social media and made some interesting comparisons between the behaviour of the animal and risk reduction strategies. Mahindra proposed that the polar bear’s strategy for negotiating “thin ice” offers a more insightful lesson in risk management than anything that can be learned in a conventional business school.
The Polar Bear’s Forward Motion
Mahindra claims that the polar bear moves ahead by spreading out its body so that every part of it touches the ground and then propelling itself forward by distributing its weight evenly. He contends that this reflects a practical approach to handling uncertainty, highlighting the significance of a thoughtful and well-balanced strategy.

The Mahindra Group chairman posted the video on X and penned,”A Polar bear teaches risk mitigation better than a B-School.
