Viral video: What began as a fun-filled photoshoot amidst the breathtaking beauty of Arishina Gundi waterfall, Kollur, turned into a heart-wrenching tragedy when a 23-year-old young man was swept away by the powerful currents. Sarath Kumar, a native of Bhadravati in Shivamogga district, Karnataka, lost his life after he slipped and fell into the raging water while his friend was trying to capture a video of him posing against the picturesque backdrop.
A moment of joy turned fatal
The unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday, when Sarath and his friend embarked on a thrilling adventure to capture unforgettable memories amidst the scenic splendor of the waterfall. Little did they know that this joyous photoshoot would soon turn into a nightmare, leaving behind a heartbroken friend and family.
In a video taken by his companion, the carefree and happy moments turned into a heart-stopping scene as Sarath was seen standing on a slippery rock, dangerously close to the gushing water stream. Suddenly, tragedy struck, and he lost his footing, plunging into the ferocious current. The video captures his friend’s desperate cries for help, a haunting reminder of the split-second that changed their lives forever.
Frantic rescue efforts
As soon as Sarath’s friend realized the severity of the situation, he alerted the nearby forest department staff about the incident. A swift and extensive search and rescue operation were launched, involving forest department personnel, fire brigade, and local volunteers. However, despite their valiant efforts, Sarath remains unaccounted for, leaving his loved ones with a painful wait and heartache.
