Bengaluru Viral Video: A disturbing riding experience from a lady in Bengaluru has reignited the issue of women’s safety in using ride-sharing apps. As per the Bengaluru viral video, the lady was travelling alone while using the service of Rapido bike.
However, her regular daytime ride appears to be dreadful, leaving her in tears by the time she reaches the destination. Her shocking allegations made the famous app-bike-service company feel ashamed.
Victim Shares Her Account of Harassment in Bengaluru Viral Video
In a now viral social media post, the woman shares her riding experience with the Rapido driver from Church Street towards her PG. She shares that in the middle of the journey, the Rapido driver starts deliberately touching her thighs. Upon observing it for a few times, the victim protests by saying “Bhaiya, kya kar rahe ho… mat karo”, but the man did not stop.
She also takes out her smartphone to record it. However, she feels powerless to stop the ride. She felt fear and even dread that the driver might harm her if she protested. This fear, as known to almost all women in this country, leaves us wondering when the situation will improve.
Police Confirm Complaint and Begin Investigation
The victim has also filed an FIR at the Wilson Garden Police Station. The accused driver is also identified as Lokesh and is taken into custody for further investigations. Authorities are investigating the incident and the video evidence.
In response to this shameful viral Bengaluru video, Rapido has also taken action. The authorities have condemned the behaviour and suspended the driver for his misdeed. They have promised to take an internal probe and improve their background-checking process.
Repeated Harassment Raises Ride Safety Questions
In Bengaluru, a woman’s shocking allegation against a Rapido bike taxi driver for inappropriate touching has raised alarms about safety concerns in ride-hailing services. Unfortunately, this isn’t an isolated case. Similar incidents have been reported in cities like Kolkata and Delhi, where women passengers have faced harassment during bike taxi rides.
Despite the growing risks, many women still opt for bike taxis due to their convenience, affordability, and faster travel times, especially in congested urban areas. The increasing frequency of such incidents highlights the urgent need for enhanced safety measures and stricter regulations to protect female passengers.
However, this shocking Bengaluru viral video will definitely stain their fame. The company will have to take strong steps and improve its passenger safety protocols to win back women riders.
