Maharashtra Viral Video, Bank Employee Attacked

A shocking viral video from Maharashtra shows an SBI bank manager being physically attacked by alleged political party workers over a language issue. The incident, caught on camera, has gone viral and sparked outrage across social media.

The attackers reportedly demanded that he manager speak in Marathi. When he didn’t comply, they beat him up inside the bank premises. Despite his pleas, they kept hitting him. The manager’s identity hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, but the video has triggered strong public reactions.

Maharashtra Viral Video: Bank Employee Safety Under Fire Again

Just ten days before this incident, the Department of Financial Services (DFS) had issued a letter to all state governments urging them to ensure the safety of bank employees. The letter, dated June 4, 2025, now seems too little, too late.

Netizens are furious after watching the viral clip. Many expressed shock and called out the lack of protection for public-facing employees. The man in the video looks aggressive as he says, “you have insulted the Marathi language.”

A similar situation recently unfolded in Karnataka, where a female SBI manager was verbally abused for not speaking Kannada. Locals forced her to apologise in front of customers.

Maharashtra Language Row Turns Violent Again

This isn’t the first time bank staff in Maharashtra have faced such aggression. In April 2025, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers assaulted a bank employee in Lonavala. The group insisted that all employees must speak Marathi in daily business. When a staff member tried to explain that language doesn’t affect service quality, the conversation turned violent. The man was dragged out of the manager’s office and beaten.

These repeated attacks show a dangerous pattern. Linguistic politics is becoming a tool for intimidation. Employees posted outside their home states are feeling increasingly unsafe.

Despite DFS’s recent efforts, many believe more serious steps are needed. Stronger legal actions and state-level protections are being demanded. Until then, bank employees are left to deal with rising threats on their own.
