Meerut News: Tension rose in Meerut after several Hindu groups protested the sale of a house to a Muslim buyer. The protest took place at the Sadar Bazar police station. Videos from the spot went viral and showed people reciting the Hanuman Chalisa and demanding that the deal be cancelled.

The issue began after Saeed Ahmed Qureshi (a milk businessman) bought a house in Lane No. 6 of Thapar Nagar. The area has a Hindu and Sikh majority. Locals protested as soon as Saeed’s family moved in on Thursday night. By Friday morning, a crowd gathered outside and accused the previous owner of ignoring their concerns.

Police and administrative officers reached the station soon after. The SDM and CO met with both sides and tried to calm them. Meerut Police later posted a message on social media. They said both sides agreed to reach a “mutual resolution” and added that there was “no situation like exodus”.

However, protesters accused the police of mishandling the case. They claimed the officers took the house keys and returned them secretly. Many of them held posters warning of “exodus” and said they would not allow Hindu families to move out of the area.

CO Cantt Navina Shukla also visited the protest site. Two groups had already formed inside the police station. Both demanded that the deal be cancelled. She tried to talk to them, but protest leader Sachin Sirohi refused to end the sit-in. The SDM also stepped in, but the protests continued.

Buyer Admitted To Hospital

Meanwhile, pressure grew on Saeed. He fell ill while he was on his way to the police station. His wife, Afsana, said he received repeated calls to appear. She said he felt dizzy midway and collapsed. Locals took him to the district hospital. Doctors later referred him to the Medical College.

Saeed had taken a loan of about Rs 1 crore to buy the house. He had paid an advance of Rs 20 lakh months earlier. A public representative had held the house keys for two months due to earlier objections. The keys were returned later, and the deal went ahead.

Thapar Nagar has seen similar tension before. Locals recalled a 2010 case where a house was sold to a Muslim buyer. That matter went to court and is still pending. The old house now stands damaged, but the dispute remains unresolved.

This latest Meerut news says that the case is expected to go back to the police station for more talks. Officials say they are trying to maintain peace in the area.
