Viral News: At 35,000 feet, taste should take off faster than the plane — but IndiGo’s latest “gourmet” experiment seems to have hit turbulence instead. What promised a fine-dining escape has turned into a flavor-free flight path.

After Biocon’s Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw’s candid post, conversations are now buzzing louder than the jet engines, setting the stage for a viral storm that questions what “premium” really tastes like.

Viral News: Post Takes Off on Social Media Over IndiGo’s Stretch Menu

Biocon Executive Chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw shared a photo of the IndiGo gourmet menu served to Stretch passengers. She called the IndiGo Stretch passenger food “uninviting and tasteless,” urging Oberoi Flight Services to survey flyers for real feedback.

Her post instantly became viral news, sparking a wave of IndiGo in-flight meal reviews. Many passengers echoed similar complaints, saying that the airline’s costly experiment failed to meet simple expectations of taste and comfort.

What’s on the ‘Gourmet’ Menu Everyone’s Talking About?

The IndiGo gourmet menu features a German Lentil and Feta Salad with Beetroot Galouti, Lavash with Cream Cheese Yoghurt Dip, Thandai Tres Leches Cake, and a tin of Mixed Nuts with Pink Salt and Pepper. Each dish lists calorie and allergen details as part of IndiGo’s upgraded offering for Stretch passengers. However, feedback suggests that the Oberoi airline menu feels experimental and less satisfying, challenging the very concept of an elite in-flight experience.

She Reacts: ‘We Prefer Regular Meals!’

As reactions poured in, frequent travellers compared the IndiGo gourmet menu with older IndiGo in-flight meal reviews. A number of passengers said the regular dishes offered better taste and value, especially compared to the costlier Stretch service boxes.

Some applauded IndiGo’s effort to innovate, yet others described it as “a mismatch of flavours.” The debate underscores how travellers crave simplicity and a deeper connection with familiar flavours instead of curated experiments.

IndiGo’s Focus on Premium Experience — and the Taste Gap

The airline, in partnership with Oberoi Flight Services, intended to enhance its premium passenger journey with upscale in-flight food. The IndiGo Stretch passenger food offering aimed to compete with full-service rivals through premium meal upgrades.

Yet, as viral news continued spreading, critics questioned whether the chosen ingredients and cold-serving format justified the gourmet label. The resulting taste gap now highlights a need for refining what the term “premium” truly stands for in the sky.

The Broader Question: What Do Flyers Really Want on Board?

Beyond individual opinions, this viral IndiGo in-flight meal review has opened a deeper conversation about expectations. Experts note that Indian travellers still prefer fresh, tasty, and comfort-driven meals over pretentious plating.

Many passengers believe that food at altitude must connect emotionally more than visually. Hence, there are growing calls for IndiGo and other airlines to host surveys and pilot tastings before finalising premium menus prepared by partners like Oberoi Flight Services.

The IndiGo gourmet menu episode reminds airlines that taste often matters more than titles at cruising altitude. Flyers admire innovation, but their hearts still crave comfort and authenticity in every bite.
