A terrifying road mishap in Kerala’s Kozhikode has gone viral online after a woman had a narrow escape from a moving truck. The incident, captured on CCTV, shows a loaded truck rolling backwards on an uphill road and crashing into a woman’s scooter. She survived with only minor injuries.
According to reports, the accident happened around 7:30 am on Friday near Peringalam town. Ashwathi, a resident of Ozhyadi, was riding her scooter behind a truck carrying hollow bricks. The truck suddenly began sliding backwards on the incline and rammed into her two-wheeler.
The CCTV footage shows Ashwathi riding normally when the truck unexpectedly starts rolling back. It hits her scooter, knocks her to the ground, and continues until it crashes into a roadside tree. Her scooter was crushed, but Ashwathi managed to get up and move away from the scene.

Locals heard her screams and rushed to help. They took her to a nearby hospital. Doctors confirmed she had only minor injuries and was out of danger.
The truck’s co-driver was seen exiting the vehicle immediately after the crash. Police have registered a case and started an investigation. Initial reports suggest the truck may have suffered brake failure.
The video has spread widely on social media, with viewers shocked by how close Ashwathi came to serious injury or worse. Many called it a lucky escape and a reminder of how unpredictable road conditions can be.
This isn't the first close call caught on camera. In 2023, a woman in Telangana lay between railway tracks as a goods train passed over her and walked away without harm. A similar freak incident from China last year showed a truck landing on a driver, who still managed to escape.
