Trudeau used the platform at Toronto's Khalsa Day event to reaffirm Canada's dedication to protecting the rights and freedoms of its Sikh people. Speaking to a diverse audience, he highlighted the positive aspects of Canada's diversity by affirming that Sikh principles are, in fact, Canadian principles. Pro-Khalistan chants made a stir, but Trudeau chose not to bring up the ongoing controversy.
Social media users are furious because the event featured pro-Khalistan sentiments. In response, some have demanded that the Indian government remove its ambassadors from Canada.
