There is a political tussle going on across the country on the issue of population control. A video of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has surfaced on RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statement on religious imbalance in India. In this video, Owaisi said that ‘Don’t worry the Muslim population is not increasing, but is falling. Who is using condoms the most? We Muslims are using it most. But Mohan Bhagwat will not say anything on this.’
While addressing a public meeting in the video, Owaisi is saying, ‘The population of Muslims is not increasing. You do not put in unnecessary tension, it is not increasing. Our population is falling. The TFR of Muslims is falling. He further said that Muslims are keeping the biggest difference between producing two children. He said in the tone of the question, ‘Who is using the most condoms? We are using. Mohan Bhagwat will not speak on this.’
Significantly, while speaking at the Dussehra rally of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in Nagpur on Wednesday, October 5, Mohan Bhagwat had said that India should formulate a population policy after comprehensive thinking and it should be applicable to all communities equally. The RSS chief had also said that community-based population imbalance is an important topic and should not be ignored.
Since then Asaduddin Owaisi is continuously speaking on this issue. He had also made a tweet on this statement of the RSS chief on Wednesday. He had said that there is no need for population control in the country, as the country has already achieved replacement rate.
He further said in his tweet that if Hindus and Muslims have “same DNA”, then where is the imbalance? There is no need for population control. Because we have already achieved replacement rate. The concern is about the aging and unemployed youth, who cannot help the elderly. The sharpest decline in the fertility rate among Muslims.
