India sends vaccine to 6 countries, PM gets SOS message for vaccine from Dominica

India, one of the world’s biggest drugmakers has stated sending the indigenous vaccines to Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Seychelles.

The vaccines will also be sent to Sri Lanka, Afganistan, and Mauritius as well for necessary regulatory clearances.

India is one of the world’s biggest drugmakers, and most of the countries have already approached the nation for producing COVID vaccines for them as well.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Dominica has written to the Prime Minister of India seeking COVID vaccines for Dominica.

In a letter to PM Modi, Prime Minister Skerrit wrote: “As we enter 2021 and persevere in our fight against Covid-19, Dominica’s population of 72,100 is in urgent need of enough doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. I, therefore, request, with great humility and respect, that you assist us by donating the doses we need to make our population safe (optimally 70,000 first and second doses).”

PM Modi has also tweeted and said that: India is deeply honored to be a long-trusted partner in meeting the healthcare needs of the global community. Supplies of Covid vaccines to several countries will commence tomorrow, and more will follow in the days ahead. #VaccineMaitri
