Yesterday, i.e, on December 12, 2023, Walmart announced that the first made-in-India bicycle will be available to purchase in the U.S. at some selected Walmart stores just before the arrival of the festive season in the country.
Taranjit Singh, India’s ambassador to the United States appreciated and reflected his happiness and pleasure for the launch of the first-ever made-in-India bicycle at Walmart Stores in the United States.

The availability of the made-in-India bicycle in Walmart Stores is a part of Walmart’s initiative to triple exports to USD 10 Billion by 2027.
The bicycle launched at Walmart Stores features a cruiser design. It is designed by Hero Ecotech which is one of the largest bicycle manufacturers in India. The bicycle is available in both women’s designs and adult-size men.
The bicycle on sale at Walmart stores in the United States is made with more than 90 per cent of components and raw materials drawn from India.

Walmart Vriddhi Initiative
Apart from this, Walmart has also announced the Walmart Vriddhi initiative. This initiative contributes to the Make in India initiative by helping 50000 MSMEs to fulfil their international and domestic goals. Walmart Vriddhi Initiative will also help companies to scale up and modernise their production.
