In a major development, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bhutan are among 41 countries that could face travel restrictions to the United States as the Donald Trump administration intensifies efforts to curb illegal immigration. According to a draft accessed by Reuters, these restrictions are expected to be broader than those imposed during Trump’s first term, when travelers from seven Muslim-majority nations were banned.

US May Partially Suspend Visas for Pakistan

Pakistan has been grouped with 26 other nations that could face a partial suspension of US visa issuance if the Shehbaz Sharif-led government fails to address certain "deficiencies" within 60 days. Other countries on this list include Turkmenistan, Belarus, Bhutan, and Vanuatu.

Pakistan Dismisses Reports as "Speculative"

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry has denied any official confirmation of a travel ban. Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan stated, "As of now, this is all speculative and hence does not warrant a response."

Flashpoint: Pakistani Envoy Deported from the US

Adding to tensions, Pakistani Ambassador to Turkmenistan, KK Ahsan Wagan, was recently denied entry into the US and deported from Los Angeles. While no official reason was given, reports suggest his visa was flagged due to "controversial references" detected by the US immigration system.

If implemented, this travel ban could further strain Pakistan-US relations, already under pressure over security concerns and diplomatic issues.
