PoK protests: Recent protests went violent, killing at least 10 and injuring many more. This has made things very tense in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The crackdown was highly condemned by India, which called it “horrific human rights violations” and asked Pakistan to be held responsible for its cruel actions.

There are deaths at protests in PoK

Reports from the area say that Pakistani police brutally attacked citizens who were protesting for basic rights. A lot of people are scared because of the violence, which shows how harshly Pakistan deals with opposition in areas it illegally and forcibly controls.

The Strong Response from India

MEA Official Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told the media that India had heard of reports of terrible crimes being committed against innocent people. He said that these actions are a natural result of Pakistan’s systemic oppression and resource exploitation in PoK, which is still an area of India that is illegally held by Pakistan.

Calls to Take Responsibility

India has said again that Pakistan needs to be held accountable for these violations of human rights. India made it clear in the statement that Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh are solid parts of the country and that any attempt to occupy or oppress them militarily will be strongly resisted on the world stage.

Concerns Around the World

Even the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) was worried about the violence that was still going on. The panel spoke out against the deaths, the use of excessive force, and the communication blackouts. They also called for the right to peaceful protest to be respected and for complaints to be dealt with in a clear way.

The riots in PoK and the violence that followed show that the area is becoming more unstable. India’s condemnation shows how important it is to hold people accountable and follow human rights laws. With civilian lives in danger, international attention and political action may be needed to stop the situation from getting worse and make sure the victims get justice.
