Belgian foreign minister cuts hair in parliament to show support to Iran’s anti-hijab protest

In Iran, women have come out in the street regarding the hijab. Protests are taking place at various places against the Hijab. Women from all over the world are coming out in support of Iranian women.

Belgium’s foreign minister Hadja Lahbib and two other lawmakers cut their hair in parliament, in solidarity with anti-government demonstrations in Iran triggered by the custodial death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini.

Another politician, Goedele Liekens, also followed her lead and cut her hair. Lahbib said Iranian women can exercise their right to protest, but the reaction of security forces is disproportionate.

Now the spark of this movement has reached in India too. A woman from Noida, UP, adjacent to Delhi, has supported the demonstration of Iranian women by cutting her hair.

Dr. Anupama Bhardwaj, a resident of Sector-15 A, Noida, shared a video on her social media, in which she was seen cutting her own hair. Dr. Anupama has taken this step in support of Iranian women.

Dr. Anupama says that we have reached the 21st century. Despite this, such incidents hurt. It is not about any religion. It’s about women’s rights. There are many problems for women in India too, which need to be discussed and this is the right time. She said that with the support of Mahsa Amini, the idea is to draw attention to those who are exploiting women and throttling women’s rights by talking about barriers of religion and society.
