Canada Set to Extend 35700 Super Visa Invitations to Parents and Grandparents

Prepare yourself as Canada declares that beginning on May 21, 35,700 Super Visa invitations will be sent to parents and grandparents. With the Super Visa program, stay up to date on the newest possibilities for gatherings and visits with extended family in Canada.

Canada Super Visa: From May 21 onwards, 35,700 prospective sponsors will be invited by Canada from the remaining interest pool to sponsor forms submitted in 2020 for the sponsorship of parents and grandparents. Invitations will be sent out by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) over the course of about two weeks. It is advisable to continue monitoring the email if you filled out an interest in sponsoring form in 2020.

Super Visa Option for Family Reunions

In the event that you neglected to submit an interest to sponsor form in 2020, your parents and grandparents may still apply for a super visa and travel to Canada for an extended stay. They will be able to stay longer while in Canada and make visits for up to five years at a time. With a super visa, parents and grandparents can spend up to five years at a time visiting their children or grandchildren. It offers several entries for a maximum of ten years.

Host Requirements for Super Visa Eligibility

In order for parents or grandparents to be granted a super visa, they need to have a host who:

If your child or grandchild is a registered Indian, a Canadian citizen, or a permanent resident of Canada, they are required to provide a copy of the host’s Canadian citizenship document (as well as any applicable documents pertaining to their spouse or common-law partner) or their permanent resident document, or a Secure Certificate of Indian Status or Certificate of Indian Status (status card).

Understanding the Super Visa

A multiple-entry temporary resident visa (TRV) with a maximum ten-year validity period is called the Super Visa. There is a five-year maximum stay for each entrance. Applicants who meet the requirements for temporary residence in Canada as a visitor and apply from outside of the country may be eligible for a Super Visa.

A visitor visa is not the same as a super visa. Parents and grandparents who meet the requirements can spend up to five years at a time visiting family in Canada with a super visa. A visitor’s visa allows for a six-month maximum stay. You will need to apply for an extension and pay an additional fee if you would like to stay longer.

Eligibility Criteria for Super Visa Sponsorship

The only kids who can invite their parents or grandparents on a super visa are those who are adopted or biological. The spouses or common-law partners of their parents or grandparents may also be invited. A registered Indian host child or grandchild may be included on a Super Visa application.

In these situations, officers should proceed with processing the Super Visa application as normal and shouldn’t ask the host to submit any further documentation proving their citizenship or proof of permanent residence in Canada; the Certificate of Indian Status is sufficient evidence of the host’s registration under the Indian Act. Officers should grant a Super Visa with a 5-year stay for each permitted entry after all requirements have been satisfied.

Financial Requirements for Super Visa Hosts

In order to assess the host’s financial capacity to accommodate the applicant for the authorized stays, they must provide proof that their income meets or exceeds the minimum required, which is determined by Statistics Canada’s low-income cut-offs.

The parents or grandparents must provide sufficient proof that they are covered by health insurance from an insurance company that is recognized by the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, whether it is Canadian or not.
