In his message, CM Yogi Adityanath praised the talent, dedication, and hard work of the Indian diaspora, stating that overseas Indians have played a significant role in strengthening India’s image on the world stage. The Chief Minister emphasized that Indians settled abroad have consistently contributed to the economic growth, innovation, and cultural influence of India. From excelling in fields such as technology, healthcare, education, business, and public service to promoting Indian traditions and values globally, the diaspora has emerged as a strong force connecting India with the rest of the world.
CM Yogi noted that the contributions of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) have been instrumental in driving investment, knowledge exchange, and people-to-people ties, which directly support India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation.

Highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s connection with the global Indian community, the Chief Minister said that the state has witnessed increasing engagement from overseas Indians in recent years. NRIs from Uttar Pradesh origin have shown growing interest in investing in sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, and startups, contributing to employment generation and regional development.
The state government, he added, is committed to creating a business-friendly environment and transparent governance system to encourage greater participation from the diaspora in Uttar Pradesh’s growth story.
Significance of Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas
Observed annually on January 9, Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas commemorates the return of Mahatma Gandhi to India from South Africa in 1915 and celebrates the achievements and contributions of the Indian diaspora worldwide. The day serves as a platform to strengthen engagement between India and its global community.
CM Yogi Adityanath reiterated that the government values the role of Pravasi Bharatiyas as partners in nation-building and remains committed to deepening ties with Indians across the globe.
