Donald Trump: United States Energy Secretary Christopher Wright has remarked there Washington would be open to sell Venezuela oil to “almost all countries” including China and India.

Now, a senior Trump administration official has remarked that USA would permit India to purchase oil of Venezuela under a framework controlled by Washington that is yet to be finalized.

It was further noted by Wright that Venezuela oil would not just be restricted to a single or two destinations but also to buyers from Asia, Europe, America and other regions that had already expressed an interest to buy it.

Donald Trump-Oil Pressure Tactics on India

India was among one of the largest buyers of Venezuela oil before trade was halted due to sanctions by the United States. The proposed arrangement by the Trump administration could now offer India an alternative source to diversify its imports of energy resources at a time when domestic demand in the country is at the peak.

Previously, Donald Trump had remarked that the United States would be refining and selling 5 million barrels of Venezuela crude oil under a new arrangement. This was after US troops forcibly captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.

India’s Reliance Industries has remarked that it doesn’t expect any oil deliveries from Russia in the month of January. This follows repeated warnings by the Trump administration that import tariffs on India could raise as high as a staggering 500 percent if India does not stop buying Russian oil.

US Senator Lindsey Graham remarked that the US President now has the greenlit legislation to “punish” countries like Brazil, China and India for purchasing Russian crude despite sanctions.

Meanwhile, India has stood firm that it would keep purchasing Russian oil as it is driven by national interest. India stressed the requirement for affordable energy to maintain economic stability and protect consumers.
