Earthquake of Magnitude 6.1 on Richter Scale Hits Japanese Coast

Earthquake has occurred in the North-East Asian country Japan. The Hokkaido island was shaken by the earthquake. According to the National Center for Seismology, there was a tremor of 6.1 magnitude at 14:48 on Tuesday afternoon. Because of which people got scared and came out of their homes.

Hokkaido is the second largest island of Japan, it is inhabited by millions of people. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, this is an area where earthquakes occur throughout the year, although these earthquakes prove to be fatal when their intensity on the Richter scale is high. One special thing about Hokkaido is that it is very cold here. Even these days there is a snowy atmosphere here and mist is visible in the mountains.

According to the report of Data.jma.go.jp, the epicenter of the earthquake that occurred on Tuesday evening was near the east coast of Aomori Prefecture. Earlier on Tuesday morning, there was an earthquake in western Shizuoka province here, its intensity was said to be 3.3 on the Richter scale.

Earthquakes occur more in this area

Last month too, there was a 6.1 magnitude earthquake in Hokkaido, which caused huge damage. The highway was badly damaged as the mountain caved in, and many buildings collapsed. However, there is no report of any loss of life due to the earthquake that occurred today (Tuesday, March 28 afternoon).
