Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan Arrested in Corruption Case, Abducted by Rangers From Courthouse

Imran Khan: Paramilitary forces detained the former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan on Tuesday outside the Islamabad High Court, according to Pakistani media. According to sources, Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was arrested in Islamabad from a courthouse due to a corruption case.

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry reports Imran Khan’s car surrounded by Rangers

Fawad Chaudhry, one of Imran Khan’s aides, reported that “Imran Khan’s car has been surrounded,” but did not indicate that he had been taken into custody. Requests for confirmation of the allegation from news agency Reuters were not immediately answered by information minister Marriyum Aurangzeb. Azhar Mashwani, a different PTI leader, said that the Rangers had “abducted” Khan, 70, from within the court. He said that the party has issued an urgent appeal for protests to be held throughout the nation.

PTI leaders claim violence and torture against Imran Khan

“They are beating Khan Sahib and torturing Imran Khan right now. In a video message shared on the party’s Twitter account, Cheema said that Khan Sahib had been the subject of some action. The PTI also posted a video of a wounded guy with blood on his shirt, saying that Imran Khan’s attorney had been “badly injured” inside the IHC courthouse. “Black day for our democracy and country,” it declared.
