Hit job, says Trump after indictment in the classified documents case

Donald Trump : Former President Donald Trump said this indictment in the classified documents case is a “political hit job.”

He was talking about this probe to his supporters at the Republic Party conventions in North Carolina and Georgia. This was his first public appearance after the probe report came out.

The Justice Department indictment alleges that Donald Trump intentionally hid secret official documents in his Mar-a-Lago residence and other private properties.

However, the former President said that this indictment wanted to sabotage his chances to become President for the second time. Trump also charged his political rivals of targeting his supporters.

Speaking to his supporters in Georgia, Trump alleged, “They’ve launched one witch hunt after another to try and stop our movement, to thwart the will of the American people.”

He continued. “In the end, they’re not coming after me. They’re coming after you.”

“I’ll never leave”

Trump vowed he will never leave the Presidential elections. “I’ll never leave,” he told Politico in an interview on Saturday in his plane.

He also didn’t commit whether Trump will pardon himself after becoming President. American Presidents have the power to pardon anybody-even themselves- of crimes.

Republicans rally for Trump

A Reuters report says Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley and Mike Pence have voiced their support for Trump in the wake of the Justice Department indictment.

DeSantis, a Presidential hopeful said on Twitter, “The weaponisation of federal law enforcement represents a mortal threat to a free society.”

He also accused the law enforcement agencies of being biased in favour of the Democrats.

“We have for years witnessed an uneven application of the law depending upon political affiliation,” alleged Ron DeSantis.

Meanwhile, the Justice Department said that its probe is impartial and doesn’t target specific individuals.
