The instance of Hindu students being attacked in Pakistan occurred back-to-back days before the release of the film. At least 15 Hindu students at the University of Karachi who were celebrating Holi were reportedly hurt when they were attacked by some students in a militant Islamist organisation.

The students who planned the festival claimed they were from the Sindhi department and had been subjected to torture. In a video testimony, a female student said that while she and her colleagues were enjoying Holi, IJT members arrived and “harassed” them, beating the male students.
